Farabloc, an electromagnetic shielding fabric, reduces pain in human subjects who suffer from phantom limb pain and delayed on-set muscle soreness when assessed in placebo-controlled cross-over designed studies. The mechanism behind these observations is not known. Other authors have speculated that alteration in EMF may have biological effects secondary to stabilization of the cell membrane and enhancement of antioxidant properties. This could explain the reduced levels of anti-inflammatory markers in the delayed onset muscle soreness study. Alteration of EMF by shielding from high-frequency exposure could alter the permeability of the cell membrane, and the subsequent reduced transfer of ions may stabilize the cell’s response to excess exercise. Neither study reported any negative observations or side effects.

A unique and innovative method of utilizing the properties of FARABLOC is to incorporate the fabric into the design of the prosthetic socket. Incorporating FARABLOC into the lamination process is not difficult, explains Certified Prosthetist Tony van der Waarde.
"Dear Farabloc:
First and foremost, I, on behalf of my father-in-law want to thank all of you for the prompt attention you took to get the limb cover I ordered to my father-in-law. He received it on Friday and says that he hasn't felt this good in the almost 3 years since his amputation. We are so thrilled. Thank you. We will sing your praises all over the state of Texas. Again thank you for again for this wonderful Christmas present no only for him but for us all."
